• The National Czech Symphony Orchestra, which inaugurated the “Mondariz Melody”, brought together about 250 important personalities headed by the President of the Xunta de Galicia, at the Gran Hotel Balneario.

Mondariz Balneario, 29^th December, 2009. The town of Mondariz Balneario became the Galician cultural epicentre tonight during a concert given by the National Czech Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of the prestigious Basque conductor, Inma Shara, on the occasion of the official opening of the Xacobeo 2010 musical program.

The Mondariz Balneario Foundation (MBF), of which the company Aguas de Mondariz is a member, organised the concert, presided by Mr. Alberto Núñez Feijoo, President of the Xunta. It brought together more than 250 important Galician personalities from politics, economics, social and cultural fields, at the auditorium of the Gran Hotel Balneario de Mondariz.

Also present at the concert were the Regional Minister for Culture & Tourism, Mr. Roberto Varela; the Regional Minister for Presidency, Public Administration & Justice, Mr. Alfonso Rueda; and the Regional Minister for  Rural Environment, Mr. Samuel Jesús Juárez. Other public personalities to attend the event were the Mayor of Mondariz Balneario, Mr. José Antonio Lorenzo; the Manager of S.A. para a Xestión do Plan Xacobeo, Mr. Ignacio Santos; and many representatives from the Galician business fabric.

During the concert, the National Czech Symphony Orchestra for the very first time played the  “Mondariz Melody”, which was created exclusively by Inma Shara for this concert.  It evoked the history of Mondariz Balneario, namely, its splendour, times of war, the big fire and the recovery, through the interpretation of four relevant pieces of Eduard Grieg, Ciacomo Puccini, Samuel Barber and Tchaikovsky.

Rescue of cultural values

Priority objectives of the Mondariz Balneario Foundation are to rescue and recover cultural and artistic values that were marked by the history of Mondariz Balneario, as well as the environmental recovery of the surroundings and the improvement of the Spa facility of this town. To that end, the entity that Mr. Javier Solano presides organised this opening concert of the Xacobeo 2010 "Music Way" in collaboration with  the Regional Ministry for Culture & Tourism of the Xunta de Galicia, besides additional collaboration from the Pontevedra Provincial Council,  the company Aguas de Mondariz and  Mondariz Spa.

As official sponsor of Xacobeo 2010 and member of the  MBF Board, Aguas de Mondariz used the occasion of this event to give all attendees a gift of its limited edition premium water called “Elite by Mondariz”, dedicated both to the Pilgrim's Route to Santiago and to the pilgrims.
