The concern for quality has led the company to become equipped with the best technology in the bottled water sector.
Aguas de Mondariz was the first bottling company from the food and agriculture sector in Spain, to receive the international ISO 9001 Quality Management Certification, the ISO 14001 Environmental Management Certification and the European EMAS certification. It also has received the Galicia Calidade certification, a distinction given by the Galician Regional Government (Xunta de Galicia) to the best products from the region.
The company has over its more than 100 year history maintained its choice for innovating its products and processes. Such objective has always been focussed on protecting the environment: all initiatives, processes and products are planned and evaluated from an environmental view point.
Mondariz was the first Spanish company to replace PVC bottles with PET (polyethylene tetrapthalate) bottles. Recyclability of PET (100%), its lesser weight and absence of polluting emissions upon incineration make it one of the best materials for conservation of the environment.
Self-production of bottles is another way of guaranteeing against possible water contamination.
These initiatives permit a lesser consumption of plastic, paper and carton, and furthermore mean reduced CO2 emissions by maximising recycling possibilities.
Aguas de Mondariz is also committed to getting its suppliers in the value chain to commit themselves environmentally through ongoing improvement programs.
