This collection includes four bottles: Tower of Hercules, Beach of Rodas, Roman Walls of Lugo and Ribeira Sacra.
Tower of Hercules Bottle
It is the most ancient lighthouse in the world in use. This tells the legend of Hercules, son of Zeus, who in a hard fight defeated the King of Brigantia, the giant Geryon, and then obliged his people to relinquish half of their goods to him. In the place of the duel a huge tower was raised, next to this tower he founded the city that takes its name from the first woman who inhabited it: Crunna. The Tower of Hercules (also known as El Farum Brigantium), built by the Romans in the first century and more than 55 meters in height, is one of the great iconic emblems of the beautiful of A Coruña.
Roman Walls of Lugo
It is the best conserved Roman walls in the world. They were built in the second century under the guidelines of the engineer Vitruvius for the defence of the city, with longitude of more than 2 kilometres and distinguishable by their magnificent towers and gates. The walls, that surround what was the roman city called Lucus Augusti, in the name of the Emperor Augustus, have been kept in an excellent state of conservation. This fortification allows you to get to know the city of Lugo “from its height”, observing every single detail of this ancient city.
Beach of Rodas
It is the most beautiful beach in the world. Legend tells that 60 years before Christ and following the famous battle against the Herminios, it was on this beach where General Julius Cesar decided to rest for a period before finally conquering the site and writing his chronicles. This spectacular beach, which is situated in the National Park of the Atlantic Islands, was acknowledged in 2007 by the British newspaper The Guardian, which rated it as number 1 of the Top 10 most beautiful beaches in the world.
Ribeira Sacra
It is the greatest concentration of medieval monasteries in the Iberian Peninsula. This wooded territory seen between the spectacular canyons of the rivers Miño and Sil accommodates a long list of small and large monasteries that served as a refuge for the hermits in search of silence and prayer in remote locations. It is a place of vineyards whose soup was enjoyed in the time of the Romans. A well kept secret and a little world to discover that will not disappoint visitors.
